Formlabs Tough 1000 Resin is a ductile, impact-resistant engineering resin for parts that need to deform and withstand repeated use. Its relatively compliant character is comparable to high-density polyethylene (HDPE). It is useful for designs combining a defined overall shape with moving or spring-like features.
Potential applications include living hinges, compliant mechanisms, impact-exposed brackets and moving assemblies. Sliding contacts, joints and enclosure parts can also be developed as functional prototypes. Formlabs emphasises fatigue resistance alongside low-friction, wear-resistant surfaces.
Wall thickness, radii and the length of flexible features determine the available movement. Geometry is therefore matched to the loads and post-curing process. Manufacturer tests on defined specimens inform material selection without guaranteeing the service life of every design.

Limitations and post-processing
Suitability depends on geometry, orientation, print profile and material condition. Drying, annealing, or washing and post-curing are material- and profile-specific. Material data do not certify a part.
